Jay S. Becker
Jay S. Becker, co-chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Area, devotes his practice to labor relations and employment law and litigation on behalf of management. His experience includes conducting trials, hearings, arbitration and mediation sessions; responding to state and federal administrative agency charges; collective bargaining; drafting employment-related corporate documents such as restrictive covenants, employee handbooks, employment agreements, various stock and compensation plans, and separation/severance agreements. He counsels employers on all employee relations issues including, but not limited to discrimination, hiring, terminations, reductions in force, whistle-blowing, diversity, wage and hour claims, breach of contract, tortious interference claims and employee benefits issues.

Joseph C. DeBlasio
Joseph C. DeBlasio, co-chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Area, has devoted his entire career exclusively to the representation of management in all aspects of labor and employment-related matters. Before moving his practice to GH&C in 2008, he was an Associate with a national labor and employment law firm and then a Partner of a large New Jersey law firm. He specializes in defending against claims of alleged wrongful discharge, discrimination, workplace harassment, whistle-blower retaliation, and wage-and-hour violations. He regularly counsels employers on all workplaces issues, including hiring and firing, the navigation of family and medical leave issues, disability and religious accommodations, disciplinary issues, and litigation avoidance. Mr. DeBlasio has successfully represented employers in jury trials, labor arbitrations, before federal and state agencies, at various appellate courts and before the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Mr. DeBlasio has been featured by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of its “40 Under Forty,” and he is recognized as a New Jersey Super Lawyer, Rising Star. He also was selected for inclusion in Chambers USA as one of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for labor and employment law.

Ms. Gunther focuses her practice on the representation of employers in employment litigation. Her employment litigation experience includes the representation of management in defending against claims of alleged wrongful discharge, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage-and-hour violations and whistle-blowing. She also litigates the enforcement of confidentiality and non-compete agreements, as well as other restrictive covenants. Ms. Gunther provides general counseling to employers on all workplace issues, including strategies for litigation avoidance.

Ari G. Burd
Mr. Burd devotes his time to litigation and counseling employers with regard to traditional employment and labor related issues. Mr. Burd has extensive experience in both the state and federal courts in areas including retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour, sexual harassment and race, age, gender and disability discrimination. Mr. Burd also has considerable experience in assisting negotiating and drafting employment related agreements as well in counseling clients on employment and labor law issues, including hiring and termination decisions, wage and hour requirements, COBRA compliance, and the ADA. Mr. Burd has participated in labor negotiations and often appeared before the Office of Administrative Law.
